The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki Monday said it will raise prices across its range of vehicles next month to offset an increase in input costs.
The company did not specify the quantum of increase.
“With reference to our earlier communications with respect to a price increase, we wish to inform you that over the past year the cost of the company’s vehicles continues to be adversely impacted due to an increase in various input costs. Hence, it has become imperative to pass on some impact of the additional cost to the customers through a price rise”, Maruti Suzuki said in a filing. The company had announced its intention to raise vehicle prices in the second quarter earlier in June this year.
The statement added the price rise has been planned across models in September 2021.
This will be the third price hike by the company this year citing commodity cost.
Maruti Suzuki had increased prices in April and January. On April 16, it announced a 1.6% weighted average increase in ex-showroom prices (Delhi) across models. On January 18, the automaker had hiked the prices of some models by up to Rs 34,000.
Maruti Suzuki sells a range of models from entry-level hatchback Alto to the S-Cross sedan, priced between Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 12.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
