Thomson Computing and Sahasra Group Forge Strategic Partnership for IT Hardware Production in India

In a groundbreaking move, Thomson Computing, a leading European brand (METAVISIO), is set to penetrate the thriving Indian consumer electronics market. Collaborating with its Indian subsidiary, Metavisio Computing India Pvt Ltd, the company became the first European entity to launch an array of IT hardware products, including laptops and notebooks in India.

Simultaneously, Thomson Computing proudly announces a significant collaboration with Sahasra Electronics Solutions Limited under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) 2.0 program. This partnership aligns with the ‘Make in India’ initiative, leveraging the benefits of the PLI scheme for local manufacturing. The official registration as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) brand on the Government of India’s GEM E-Portal further solidifies Thomson’s market position.

The collaboration with Sahasra Electronics Solutions Limited will streamline the Manufacturing in India (MII) production of Thomson’s Computers range, catering to diverse consumer demands, including the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector, Education, and the public sector. This alliance underscores Thomson Computing’s commitment to meeting evolving Indian consumer needs with the support of an established partner in the public domain.

Expressing his pride in the partnership, Mr Amrit Manwani, CMD of Sahasra Group, stated, “Partnering with the French brand Thomson Computing (Metavisio), the largest-selling European brand for laptops and tablets, is a testament to the Make in India initiative as envisioned by the Government of India.”

Thomson’s extensive Support Service covers over 15,000 Pin Codes across India, offering onsite and offsite services. With a focus on customers seeking products within the sub-25K price range, Thomson aims to cater to a broad market, from rural areas to metro customers seeking additional laptops. The brand’s tablet range provides affordable options, starting from an MRP of Rs 12,990.

Stéphan Francais, President and CEO of Thomson Computing expressed enthusiasm for entering the Indian market, leveraging the expertise of global managers Pierre Krasnovsky and India Country Manager Avinash Singh. Francais emphasized India’s rapid evolution, positioning Thomson Computing as a key player in its dynamic IT landscape.
